At Mass: the Priest's Private Prayer of Preparation to Receive Holy Communion
He breaks the Eucharistic Host, places a particle of it into the chalice, and returns the rest of the Host to the paten. Then he says the following quietly for himself.
Lord Jesus Christ,
Son of the Living God,
by the will of the Father
and the work of the Holy Spirit
your death brought life to the world.
By your holy Body and Blood
free me from all my sins and from every evil,
keep me faithful to your teaching,
and never let me be parted from you.
He then genuflects, picks up the Host, shows it to the people, and says, "This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world." He then consumes the Lord's Body, and then drinks the Lord's Blood. Then he goes to give Holy Communion to the people.
I take the occasion of the Solemnity of the Lord's Body and Blood ("Corpus Christi") to again highly recommend this prayer to everyone.

I think I will take this prayer with me to my next Adoration. Thanks Father.

I knew a Dominican, a retired Navy chaplain, who used to say daily Mass at the Pentagon. He died recently after hitting his head in a fall. He used to say this prayer aloud so those of gathered in the small Pentagon chapel could hear. It was a very moving moment. I don't know how to explain it, except to say that we had a glimpse of this man's intense, overwhelming and passionate love of Christ.
Thank you Father.
