Happy New Year Fr. Stephanos!
Memorial of Saint Francis Xavier, SJ today...
www.companionofjesus.com has a few really good prayers from FX.
Keep up the good work. I read your blog every day.
Father, may I inquire as to the meaning of the colorful pattern of crosses in this post?
The overall color scheme of the crosses is violet, the color for Advent.
The pattern is an ancient one in Christianity: "polystavrion"--Greek for "many crosses."
In icons, the pattern is usually rendered in black and white crosses, and is the vestment for archbishops.
